The Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) is an important assistance offered by the Brazilian government, but not everyone is entitled to it.

In this article, we will clarify who is entitled to BPC and how to make the request.

Who is entitled to the BPC?

The BPC is a universal benefit, that is, it is intended for all people who meet the requirements, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, sex or sexual orientation.

However, only those who belong to two exclusive groups are entitled to it. Watch below:

Elderly

Brazilians aged 65 or over who do not receive any social security benefits are entitled to the BPC, that is, those who do not have a retirement or pension.

Per capita family income must be less than 1/4 of the minimum wage.

Disabled people

People of any age with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory disabilities, which make it impossible for the person to participate fully and effectively in society, on equal terms with other citizens.

What is the value of the BPC?

As already mentioned in the previous text, the value of the BPC is equivalent to a current minimum wage, being deposited in the current or savings account of the beneficiary, or their legal representative.

Considering the minimum wage in force this year (2023), the BPC value is 1,320.

How do I request the Continuous Payment Benefit?

The BPC can be requested through the Meu INSS portal or an INSS Service Center (CEPREV).

To request the benefit, you must present the following documents:

  • ID or CNH;
  • CPF;
  • Proof of address;
  • Birth or marriage certificate;
  • Proof of family income;
  • Medical report, if you are a person with a disability.

After gathering all the documentation, the next step is to schedule an appointment at a Social Security agency.

This can be done by calling 135 or via the official INSS website or app.

Remembering that, before scheduling, you must register with the city's Cadúnico.

To do this, go to the CRAS in your municipality with complete documentation.

During the in-person appointment, you will undergo a social and medical assessment.

The social assessment will verify your socioeconomic conditions, while the medical assessment will confirm your disability and your inability to participate fully and effectively in society, on equal terms with other citizens.

After the evaluation, it is important to monitor the progress of the process. This can be done via the INSS website or by calling 135.

When serving, ask the attendant through which other channels you can follow the request.

Remember that the BPC is a lifetime benefit, but reviews must be carried out every two years to prove that the eligibility conditions are still present.

Conclusion

Now that you have discovered who is entitled to BPC and how to request it, access the INSS and schedule your appointment.

To the access the website, click on “New Order”, then you can log in or choose to continue without logging in, but you will need to enter some data.
