Who can sign up?

To apply for the Bolsa Verde program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Being in a situation of poverty, that is, having a per capita monthly family income equal to or less than half a national minimum wage or a total monthly family income equal to or less than three national minimum wages;
  • Be registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico), with data updated in the last two years;
  • Develop environmental conservation activities in one of the areas eligible for the program (see previous text).

How to participate in the Bolsa Verde Program?

To participate, you must register, this can be done through the following steps:

  1. Look for the program managing body in your region, which could be the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra), the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad) or the Municipal Environment Secretariat (Semma);
  2. Present the necessary documents, which are: identification document with photo, CPF, proof of residence, proof of registration with CadÚnico and declaration that you carry out environmental conservation activities in the area where you live;
  3. Sign the program membership agreement, in which you undertake to comply with the program's rules and conditions;
  4. Wait for the analysis and approval of your registration by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

How to receive the benefit of the program?

After your registration is approved, you will receive the benefit of the Bolsa Verde program, which is a quarterly payment of R$600.00 (six hundred reais), deposited in a Caixa Econômica Federal savings account. 

To receive the benefit, you must have or open a savings account at Caixa, present your Bolsa Família card or citizen card at the Caixa Econômica Federal branch, or at one of its banking correspondents.

Finally, you must withdraw the benefit amount within the period established by the program.

What are the conditionalities

  • Participate in monitoring and protection activities in the area where you live, collaborating with environmental agencies and local organizations;
  • Participate in technical assistance, socio-environmental rural extension, environmental conservation and socio-productive inclusion actions offered by the program or its partners;
  • Keep data updated in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico).

Compliance with the conditionalities will be periodically checked by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and by the program management bodies in your region. 

If you fail to comply with any conditionality, your benefit may be suspended or cancelled.
