What is the 2024 Athlete Scholarship?

Bolsa Atleta is a Federal Government incentive program that works as a type of sponsorship for high-performance athletes.

The idea is to guarantee an individual monthly amount, in order to encourage complete dedication to training, which allows the athlete to have better career opportunities.

The amounts paid vary according to the career level, and to receive it you must participate in the selection process, which opens every year.

The 2024 Atleta Scholarship is now available, and is aimed at athletes who performed favorably in 2023. 

Therefore, to compete for a scholarship/incentive you must meet the category requirements, and we will talk about this later.

But, what you need to know for now is that this is nothing more than a Government benefit aimed at the development of national sport, which is aimed at athletes from different disciplines.

Amounts paid and requirements for each category

Bolsa Atleta 2024 does not pay a single amount to all beneficiaries, as sponsorship varies according to the category in which the athlete competes.

For each category the requirements are specific, as are the amounts paid, see:

Base Athlete – R$ 370.00 per month

• Age: between 14 and 19 years old;
• Must be linked to a sports entity (club);
• Be affiliated with the administration entity of the modality practiced (state and national);
• Have participated with some type of highlight in competitions in the sport (up to 3rd place in competitions, or elected one of the ten best athletes in the category) in the year 2023.

Student Athlete – R$ 370.00 per month

• Age: between 14 and 20 years old;
• Be enrolled in a private or public educational institution;
• Have participated in the National Student Games in 2023, having achieved 3rd place.

National Athlete – R$ 925.00 per month

• Age: over 14 years old;
• Be associated with a sports entity (club);
• Be affiliated with the administration entity of the modality practiced (state and national);
• Have participated in the maximum event of the modality, having obtained up to 3rd place.

*The maximum events for each modality are defined and published by the administration entities.

International Athlete – R$ 1,850.00 per month

• Age: over 14 years old;
• Be associated with a sports entity (club);
• Be affiliated with the administration entity of the modality practiced (state and national);
• Have participated in international competitions in the sport in 2023, having obtained up to 3rd place.

Olympic/Paralympic Athlete – R$ 3,100.00 per month

• Age: over 14 years old;
• Be associated with a sports entity (club);
• Be affiliated with the administration entity of the modality practiced (state and national);
• Having been part of the group of athletes of the national delegation as a starter in the last edition of the Olympic/Paralympic games.

Documents required to apply for the 2024 Atleta Scholarship

In addition to meeting the requirements according to the athlete's category, it is important to have and submit the necessary documentation to apply for the 2024 Athlete Scholarship.

The documents must be delivered to the National Secretariat for High Performance Sports, together with the online registration form.

• Copy of identity document;
• Statement from the club informing that the athlete is linked and is in full sporting activity It is participates in regular training for future competitions.

*waived in the case of an athlete in the Student category.

• Declaration from the confederation of the respective modality, informing that the athlete is registered, maintains a link and participated and was classified in competitions in 2023.

**must be accompanied by the competition summary, with official results that qualify the athlete.

• In the case of a Student Athlete Scholarship, a declaration must be submitted from the educational institution, certifying that the athlete is enrolled and is fully involved in sporting activities. It is participates in regular training for future competitions.
• Declarations of amounts received as sponsorship from Public or Private Institutions, including occasional and regular amounts, other than salaries.
• Annual sports plan.

Registration for the 2024 Athlete Scholarship has already begun, so it is now possible to submit your application and compete for a scholarship.

To do this, you must access the Online Registration Form, available on the official website of the Ministry of Sports.

Therefore, after completing and sending the form, send the documents described in the previous topic.

Finally, just wait for the list of approved candidates to be published in the Official Gazette.

If you are approved, you will have to sign the program membership form in order to receive 12 installments in the amounts corresponding to your category.
