What is the federal police?

The Federal police are, in fact, a police force of the state and not of the government. Its function is to serve everyone by acting as a public security institution.

They report to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, being directly linked to these bodies. Its jurisdiction extends throughout the national territory.

A Federal Police is known for its wide-ranging investigative activities. It conducts investigations into crimes, such as drug trafficking, corruption, financial crimes, smuggling, cybercrimes, among others.

In addition, they control borders and immigration, acting as a filter to combat drugs, weapons and smuggling.

The PF is the Union's judicial police, responsible for carrying out investigations in cases involving federal criminal offenses.

How to join the Federal Police?

To be able to join the federal police, you must participate in a public examination and meet the requirements for each position.

When applying for the PF, the candidate can choose different positions at the time of registration, including:

The competition to join the Police, federal or civil, is held annually by the PF itself and they end up being very competitive, and unfortunately they have few vacancies.

The main requirements are Brazilian or Portuguese nationality, and being at least 18 years old.

It is also necessary to have completed higher education in any field and have a category B CNH (National Driving License).

Another very important point is that the professional needs to be up to date with their tax, electoral and military obligations.

The test will involve medical, psychological and physical fitness assessment tests, so the candidate also needs to be fit in both areas, physical and mental.

Furthermore, to join the Federal Police it is necessary to pass the social investigation, the objective test and the discursive test.

The objective test consists of multiple choice questions to assess general and some specific knowledge, and in the discursive test it is necessary to write an essay.

This course will be held at the Federal Police Academy, which has three units in Brazil, one in Curitiba, one in Rio de Janeiro and one in Brasília.
