How to receive Gas Aid?

Although it is a benefit widely known by the Brazilian population, many people still do not know How to receive Gas Aid. 

In this second text, we will explain it to you. We have already said that it is simpler than you might think and there is no bureaucracy.

Who is this benefit intended for?

Gas Aid is an important federal government initiative created in 2021, in the midst of a pandemic. 

At that time, many people had lost their main source of income as a result of the actions established to combat the spread of this terrible disease, such as quarantine and social isolation.

Certainly, low-income families were the most affected by this economic instability.

In this context, Gas Aid came up with an important tool to reduce the cost of a necessary basic expense: cooking gas. 

The following groups can receive this benefit:

• Families registered in CadÚnico, with per capita monthly family income less than or equal to half the minimum wage.
• Families not registered with CadÚnico, but with a BPC beneficiary in the family composition;
• Bolsa Família and BPC beneficiaries registered with Cadúnico.

It is important to highlight that resources received from social programs are not counted in per capita income to receive Gas Aid.

This way, more families can have access to this benefit.

How to receive Gas Aid? 

Many people don't know, but it is not necessary to request Gas Aid, as is the case with other social programs, such as BPC It is Bolsa Família.  

Families that meet the requirements are automatically included on the list to receive this financial resource.

In practice, all Bolsa Família beneficiaries, for example, should receive Gas Aid automatically every two months.

However, this rule only exists in theory, because, currently, not half of the beneficiaries of the country's main social program have access to this benefit. 

If you are eligible and are not receiving it, an alternative is to go to the CRAS office in your city and ask any further questions about receiving it.

Where is the money deposited?

The value of the Gas Aid is equivalent to 50% of the price of a 13-kilogram cooking gas cylinder.

The financial resource is deposited in alternate months, that is, one, yes, another no.

The amounts are paid into a digital or bank account, on the same date that the beneficiary receives Bolsa Família or another social benefit.

If the family does not have any digital or bank account, a digital social savings account will be opened automatically.
