Today we will understand more about how this trend works and how important it is today.

What is cyber law?

Cyber law, also known as digital law or cyberlegal, refers to the legal area that deals with issues related to information technology, internet, cybersecurity and digital privacy.

Every day we come across stories of people who have suffered some type of cyber threat or had their privacy rights violated, which is why this area, which is growing every day, has become so important, both for victims and professionals in the field.

This area deals with fake news, electronic defamation, copyright or image rights infringement, online fraud or the dissemination of intimate images, but these are just some of the examples of crimes that can occur in the digital environment.

And as much as the internet is something very relevant in the 21st century, it only got a law and a space in the criminal code after 2012, which was when the Law 12,373/2012, or Carolina Dieckmann Law.

She became known as such due to the case of Carolina Dieckmann, a Brazilian actress who had personal and intimate photos published on the internet without her authorization.

The law became famous for establishing penalties for cybercrimes, in particular those related to the hacking of electronic devices and the unauthorized disclosure of personal data, intimate photos or videos.

Specialization in digital law

And with this regularization, colleges and universities began to offer courses and postgraduate courses so that lawyers can specialize in the area.

So today we find universities such as PUCPR, Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Mackenzie and others with courses in digital and cyber law, cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.

These are all interesting and relevant subjects, which can be used for the various cases of cybercrime that may happen every day.

How important is cyber law?

In an increasingly connected world, online security and privacy become increasingly scarce.

That's why cyber law was created, even though it was after some cases had happened, lawyers are increasingly experienced in dealing with this type of situation.

And in the courts they will be responsible for protecting people's fundamental rights, such as their privacy, freedom of expression and security.

This includes the General Data Protection Law, known as LGPD, which was created for this purpose.

It is also very important for the regulation of legal relationships, which guarantee greater security and transparency in transactions that are carried out within the digital environment.

Thinking about all these scenarios, cyber law is fundamental for the protection of people and companies in the digital age, regulating activities that occur online and creating a safer environment for everyone to surf online consciously.
