What is the young apprentice?

The young apprentice is a program that serves young people aged 14 to 24 who want to find their first job.

It is a way of teaching them a function that, in the future, can open doors to the job market.

The young apprentice's objective is usually to teach and reconcile theory with work practice, while they learn skills and competencies that will form a person and a professional.

How is the young apprentice regulated?

The program is regulated by the Apprenticeship Law, Law No. 10,097/2000, which establishes the need for some companies to hire a percentage of young apprentices according to the total number of employees.

The program is aimed mainly at low-income young people, who often have difficulties entering the job market.

Young apprentices work part-time, receive a minimum wage proportional to the hours worked and are entitled to benefits such as FGTS, holidays and 13th salary.

Furthermore, companies are responsible for offering a professional training program for young people, which may include theoretical and practical courses.

Contracts last two years and can be extended for another year if necessary or at the company's discretion. When the contract ends, the young person will receive a certificate of completion.

Where to apply for the program?

Young people interested in applying for the program can search for vacancies in companies that offer the program or through partner institutions that work to train and insert young people into the job market.

Some companies, such as retailers, telecommunications companies, banks and others, offer young apprenticeships.

There are institutions such as the Business-School Integration Center (CIEE) and the National Commercial Learning Service (SENAC), which offer training programs and insertion of young people into the job market.

Difference between young apprentice and trainee

We end up confusing what young apprentice and trainee mean due to some details, as they are two ways of inserting young people into the job market.

The young apprentice program is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 24 who are studying, giving them opportunities for work and professional training.

Trainee programs are aimed at young people who have recently graduated or are currently undergoing training and are looking for a career opportunity in medium and large companies.

Trainees go through a rigorous selection process and, if hired, they can be hired at the company.

When a trainee, the professional usually passes through several areas of the company, allowing him to develop his skills and competencies, receiving various training.

Large and multinational companies, such as Amazon, Shopee, Magazine Luiza and others have these trainee programs, where young people can grow as professionals and also as better people.
